Kate Gartley CCM - Owner
Kate Gartley has over 20 years of experience in the pet industry, from running a small dogwalking and pet care business, to working in veterinary care, to working as a dog trainer (with Who's Walking Who Dog Training Centres). After a few years focusing on veterinary care, Kate has come back to the pet care business with @DogLover.com, combining many different fields in the pet industry into one, making unique and practical help readily available for pet families and their furry kids.
Kate started her journey in canine massage over 15 years ago thanks to her sweet German Shepherd, Sheena. Sheena was a rescue who required many corrective surgeries to help combat many structural issues. After all traditional veterinary treatments were investigated, alternative therapies were explored. Canine massage provided the relief needed for Sheena to enjoy everyday life to the fullest! Seeing these amazing results, Kate attended an extensive course with TreeTops and became a certified canine masseuse, CCM (diploma is now offered online with E-TRAINING for Dogs.Com).
Kate's interests also extend out into pet rescue. Over the years she has come across many pets in need of help, some have been abandoned, abused, or just given up. Kate found that the need was out there for "in home" type rescues where pets can adjust to regular home life before making the final move to a forever home...and so Dog - Ma Pet Rescue came to life in 2009. Dog - Ma Pet Rescue works with cats, dogs and other small critters.
For fun Kate and her "zoo" can be found participating in many different dog sports, their favourites being agility, disc dog, and dock diving. In 2016 Kate and the zoo attended their first Skyhoundz World Disc Dog Championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Some of the zoo have and still do perform with various performance teams like Team K9 Dog Sport Show and SuperDogs.
